Dr. Henry Wu joined GERICS in 2024 as a Scientific Officer for Earth League secretariat and for the German Committee for Sustainability Research in Future Earth (DKN). He is responsible for the coordination and content creation of the synthesis products of The Earth League. One of the main products produced by The Earth League is the annual report,10 New Insights on Climate Science, elevating the latest and most significant climate research to the negotiations at the annual UNFCCC COP. Additional products include the 10 Must Haves Initiative, to help decision-makers in both public and private sectors lead the necessary changes to halt and reverse the course of the current climate crises.

Henry is leading the PEERS Northern Europe hub (Practitioner Exchange for Effective Response to Sea Level Rise) at GERICS bringing together regional experts and diverse stakeholders from the city, county, and state levels in support of effective coastal adaption and resilience. He is also a consultant for the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) coordination team, working with the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). As part of the C3S National Collaboration Programme (NCP), he assists with the collaboration and exchange between EU Member States and Copernicus Participating States to enhance the use and services of C3S products. The team's efforts focus on addressing climate change risks and supporting the transition to climate-resilient and carbon-neutral economies.

Before joining GERICS, Henry led a junior research group at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research, funded by the climate research initiative, “Make Our Planet Great Again”. He has extensive international experience having worked for organizations in Taiwan, USA, France, and Germany at the ocean-climate nexus. Henry is experienced in coordination of interdisciplinary scientific networks with a background in strategic and conceptualization of tasks. He led the successful creation and launch of the IOC/UNESCO online training course on „Co-Design for the Ocean Science” for the „Ocean Science for Sustainable Development”.

Henry also has great interest in science communication as he joined “Scientists for Future” in Bremen with the Klimabahn (Climate Train) Initiative giving public talks on the local tram network on climate change.
